Cientifica’s partner London Graphene Ltd has signed an option agreement with ISIS Innovation, the technology transfer office for the University of Oxford. The London Graphene option agreement is to license a patent filed by Isis Innovation for the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford.
The patent application relates to a process for producing two-dimensional nanomaterials, including high quality chemical vapour disposition (CVD) graphene on copper foil.
This could pave the way for more effective electronic storage devices. The option is exclusive in the field of capacitors and batteries. Cientifica chief executive Tim Harper said: “Energy is one of the world’s largest markets and the need for innovation and improved storage is clear. As we announced in January, Cientifica and London Graphene are working together to identify and address the need for improved energy storage systems in applications such as portable devices, automobiles and renewable energy systems.”
