Versarien (LON:VRS) a proprietary tech company has announced that it has been granted US patent protection (No. 14/002399 (2014/0044968) for its very own graphene production process. That patent is in partnership with the University of Ulster. This is in addition to its existing patent protection for the volume graphene platelet production process that is held in Europe. The acquisition of the North American patent is in line with Versarien’s opinion on North America becoming a key graphene marketplace.
The company reports that that their proprietary method of graphene production, has multiple advantages over the standard graphene production methods. Versarien claims that their method could help them to attain the sought after graphene goal, to allow accelerated commercialization of products containing graphene.
“We are delighted to have secured a patent in the largest of the global markets which will allow us to accelerate the development of commercial applications for graphene and graphene products,” said chief executive Neill Ricketts.
