What is G+?
It is “the material of the future” to cycling products. It is a nano-technology material that will help produce faster, stronger, lighter, and more resistant wheels and tires.

What are the benefits of G+ in carbon wheel applications?

On Wednesday during the Interbike Press Preview, the Vittoria team enthusiastically shared the news about the new graphene tires. Some of the major benefits of the graphene tire is reduced rolling resistance and weight, with an improvement in durability. The reported reduction in rolling resistance is 32 seconds over 50km along with a marked improvement in grip.

Haydale (LON:HAYD) Signs Commercialisation Agreement with Huntsman Advanced Materials

Haydale Graphene (LON:HAYD) has signed letter of intent with Huntsman Advanced Materials. This may be the initial stage needed to commercialize the company’s proprietary graphene technology. On the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange, Haydale graphene stock rose about 5%, now trading at 152.5.

The goal will be to create unique graphene products by utilizing Haydale’s graphene tech with Huntsman’s ARALDITE resin and adhesive products. The process will begin with a graphene incorporated ‘master batch’ which will be used for research and development and testing.

Graphene has many potential uses in different composite and additive applications, the “miracle material” is very thin and lightweight while still retaining impressive strength. The 2D material can be applied as a conductor, heat-exchanger or for added strength and rigidity.

Haydale’s graphene technology utilizes plasma reactors to apply the material for functional uses in other mediums which can lead to enhanced composite materials. These enhanced materials can mean additional benefits over and above a graphene on its own.

Versarien (LON:VRS) Granted North American Patent for High Quality Graphene Production Process

logoVersarien (LON:VRS) a proprietary tech company has announced that it has been granted US patent protection (No. 14/002399 (2014/0044968) for its very own graphene production process. That patent is in partnership with the University of Ulster. This is in addition to its existing patent protection for the volume graphene platelet production process that is held in Europe.  The acquisition of the North American patent is in line with Versarien’s opinion on North America becoming a key graphene marketplace.

The company reports that that their proprietary method of graphene production, has multiple advantages over the standard graphene production methods. Versarien claims that their method could help them to attain the sought after graphene goal, to allow accelerated commercialization of products containing graphene.

“We are delighted to have secured a patent in the largest of the global markets which will allow us to accelerate the development of commercial applications for graphene and graphene products,” said chief executive Neill Ricketts.

Haydale’s (AIM:HATD) Collaborative Research Project on Lightning Proof Aircraft Graphene Composite

graphenelightningstrikeHaydale (AIM: HAYD), the group focused on the commercialisation of graphene and other nano particle products using their proprietary plasma process is pleased to announce its composites division, Haydale Composite Solutions Ltd (“HCS”), has entered into a collaborative 18 month research project awarded and managed by the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (“NATEP”). The project involves two end users; Airbus UK and BAE Systems Plc. Collaborating in the project are Cobham Plc (lightning strike advice and testing), SHD Composites Ltd (carbon fibre reinforced epoxy resin pre-impregnated fabric supplier) and HCS (supplier of functionalised graphene enhanced epoxy resins). NATEP are providing a grant of up to £150,000 towards the £300,000 cost of the research project, of which HCS will receive up to £100,000.

Carbon fibre composites are used extensively in aircraft applications such as fuselages, leading edges and wing surfaces. However, because the carbon fibre reinforced epoxy composite materials are poor conductors of electricity they are prone to damage from lightning strike. This has led to aircraft companies incorporating copper or aluminium meshes into the composite materials which add significant weight and cost.

The electrical conductivity of graphene enhanced composites has already been established. The aim of this project is therefore to develop highly electrically conductive epoxy resins through the addition of functionalised graphene which, when combined with conductive carbon fibre, is expected to result in a highly conductive carbon fibre reinforced epoxy composite material capable of withstanding lightning strike in its own right. The development of such a material would result in safer aircraft, weight and cost savings from the elimination of the expensive metallic meshes as well as eliminating time associated with integrating the meshes into the structure.

Does Tesla Have New Rival? Plans for a Graphene Based Hydrogen Fuel Cell Super Car – The Edison Electron One

An electric super car powered by a graphene hydrogen fuel cell is under development. The high performance graphene car is supposed to be better performing than a Ferrari. The car is called the Edison Electron One.

The project is the result of the joint venture between Sunvault Energy (SVLT-OTC:BB) and the Edison Power Company a Delaware Corporation.  The partnership spawns the Edison Motor Cars Corporation. They will be collaborating with MK Technologies Ltd. to facilitate the design and conception of this amazing super car.

Edison Motors reports that Edison Electron One will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2016. The vehicle will contain an electric drive unit functioning at each wheel. This is expected to enable the vehicle with 1,355 Newton meters of torque. This is just about double that of the Ferrari 488 GTB and a third more than Elon Musk’s Tesla P85D.

The company states that the purpose of the project is to showcase their graphene-integrated hydrogen fuel cell technology.

“The fuel cell will be powered by an on-demand hydrogen generation unit built into the car and will only require water,” said Robert Murray-Smith, Director of Sunvault Energy.

Edison Electron One accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just about two seconds. Amazingly the battery is reported to be rechargeable in five minutes. Sunvault Energy believes a new industry will be spawned for charging of electric vehicles. The company believes that its graphene based storage system can accommodate this new industry.
